In the shop onboard you may purchase following items:

 

    • Hygiene products (z.B. tooth paste, shower gels, etc.)

    • Drinks (softdrinks, beer, wine, spirits)

    • Sweets and other snacks

    • Souvenirs


Mineral water with or without gas, juice, tea, hot chocolate and coffee is available free of charge in both mess rooms at all times.


Limitations in availability

There is a list of popular items and quantities usually required for equipping our expeditions with canteen goods. This is based on years of experience and continuous adaptation to changing habits. The items are purchased in Bremerhaven for the entire season (Arctic or Antarctic) at favorable prices. The quantities are divided between the various expeditions according to the length of the voyage so that everyone can start their expedition on an equal footing.

If some items are in high demand during the voyage and run out, it is not possible to access subsequent stocks. The reason for this is the greatly increased purchase prices for additional purchases in the intermediate ports. Participants in the follow-up expedition would have to pay disproportionately more for the items than their predecessors.

We therefore ask for your understanding and hope that you will bear with us if we run out of items and you have to switch to other canteen goods.

Buying more in Bremerhaven is not a solution, as remaining stock, which is usually past its expiry date, has to be disposed of at a charge. You will agree with us that the additional costs and the waste cannot be justified.
