Magnetic measurements provide the direction of the geomagnetic field. Therefore, 2 Cesium Magnetometers are mounted installed in a Nose nose boom and a Tail Boom tail boom to the aircraft. In addition, a Fluxgate Magnetometer for attitude compensation is installed. The sensor system is controlled by an external unit (AADC II) mounted in a rack. Magnetic base stations with Overhauser magnetometers are used for ground reference of the airborne measurements.
