The weatherstation consists of different sensors (listed insee: Subdevices) and a data acquisition unit. The data acquisition unit developed by [FIELAX|http://www.fielax.de] provides for local data storage and data transfer to the DShip system. In addition,
it facilitates the receipt of weather information and satellite images.

Täglich findet an Bord eine Radiosondierung der Atmosphäre statt, wobei ein Profil aus Temperatur, Druck, relativer Luftfeuchtigkeit, Windgeschwindigkeit und Windrichtung bis zu 35 km Höhe gewonnen wird. Daraus wird eine TEMP-Meldung erzeugt und automatisch als email über die Standleitung oder via IRIDIUM ins Globale Telecommunication System (GTS) der World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) abgesetzt. Stündlich wird auch eine automatische Wettermeldung erzeugt (OBS), mit visueller Wetterbeobachtung ergänzt und auf dem gleichen Weg abgesetzt. |
