Passport
A passport with validity longer than 6 months after the end of the expedition is mandatory onboard. The passport needs to have at least 2 empty pages for remarks and stamps.
It happened that entry was refused at the airport because there were no empty pages in the passport.
You also need a passport for expeditions that plan to go to European harbours only. It is always possible that the cruise route has to be changed in case of disease or emergency and the ship has to go to a non-European country. In this case leaving the ship will only be easily possible with a valid passport.
Your passport will be controlled when entering the ship. Afterwards you will deliver it to the communication officer.

Reisepass
Sie benötigen an Bord zwingend einen Reisepass, der 6 Monate über das Ende der Expedition hinaus gültig ist und mindestens 2 leere Seiten für Vermerke u. Stempel hat.
Es ist vorgekommen, dass die Einreise am Flughafen im Zielland verweigert wurde, weil die Leerseiten nicht verfügbar waren!
Auch bei Expeditionen, bei denen laut Planung nur europäische Häfen angelaufen werden sollen, ist ein Reisepass nötig. Es ist immer möglich, dass sich der Fahrtverlauf aufgrund von Krankheit oder Notfällen ändert und außereuropäische Häfen angelaufen werden müssen. Falls Sie selbst in diesen Fällen das Schiff verlassen müssen, ist das nur mit einem gültigen Reisepass einfach möglich.
Halten Sie Ihren Reisepass beim Betreten des Schiffes zur Personenkontrolle bereit. Danach geben Sie den Pass bitte beim Kommunikationsoffizier ab.

Visum
Bitte prüfen Sie, ob Sie für den Abfahrtshafen oder Zielhafen ggf. ein Visum benötigen. Informationen hält das Auswärtige Amt bereit, oder für nicht deutsche Expeditionsteilnehmer die Auslandsvertretung des entsprechenden Heimatlandes.
Eine Kopie des Visums muss in das elektronische Buchungssystem für Teilnehmer (EIS) hochgeladen werden, damit die Hafenagenturen damit z.B. den Ein- oder Ausreiseprozess einleiten können.
Die Verantwortung für das Vorliegen und die Gültigkeit des Visums liegt beim Expeditionsteilnehmer. Eine inhaltliche Prüfung durch das AWI findet nicht statt.
Visa
Please check whether you need a visa for the departure or arrival harbour. Information are given by the Federal Foreign Office. Non-German participants have to contact their responsible international representation office.
A copy of the visa has to be uploaded to the electronic expedition interface system EIS. Thereby port agencies are able to prepare entry or departure.
Responsibility for the visa lies with the participant. Examination of the contents by AWI will not take place.
