Some advices for the daily life onboard

As participants come from all over the world, you will get in contact with different cultural backgrounds and habits. To work and live in the same place with about 90 persons and limited space is new to many expeditioners.
Nearly all spaces on board are considered as workspace 24/7 for either the crew or expeditioners. Only your cabin, the gym/pool area and the bar can be considered as private areas.
We kindly ask everybody to be aware of and respect cultural differences. Always keep in mind that you are not alone and appearance and behaviour you consider "normal" might irritate or even offence others.
Neat professional appearance and conduct at all times are therefore taken for granted to avoid misunderstandings.
In case of doubt feel free to consult the trusted person on board.

Do not forget:

    • Work safety shoes of class S3 in case you travel to warmer areas where the AWI-boots are too warm.
    • Laboratory clothing and protection equipment
