Working deck is the main area for scientific device operation. Any person working or trespass the working deck during any operation need to wear safety equipment by means of safety helmet and lifejacket. (see chapter: Work and laboratory safety on board)
Below 5t side bar and 20t side bar the deck can be warmed up to prevent snow and ice coverage. Only one device is allowed to be lowered via wire, cable, or rope into the sea at the same time.
The rear stern ramp ("Heckschleppe") can be covered to extent horizontal working deck until stern. In formular "Einsatzplanung" must be defined whether the cover need to be mounted or dismounted. Mounting or dismounting operation can be executed in harbour only.
If fishery science is planned by means of trawl or benthic net operations, the mount of net guard need to be requested in formula "Einsatzplanung".
In the rear on starboard side there is space for 4 containers (+4 containers in second layer). The height of both container layers must not exceed 2x 8.5' = 17 feet. Otherwise the helicopter flight will not be permittet. The containers can be connected to electric and data network. In case of gravity corer or piston corer operation the container place portside stern must be kept empty. The requested container space must be listed in formula "Einsatzplanung".
