Thermosalinograph Keel 1 and Keel 2 data stored in data acquisition system DShip are uncorrected measurement data.

Summary

The thermosalinograph is an instrument used to accurately determine sea surface conductivity and temperature. The remote temperature sensor SBE38 is integrated with the SBE21 Thermosalinograph.

Components

Both thermosalinographs keel 1 and keel 2 consist of SBE21, external thermometer SBE38, NMEA interface box and a pipe system with a flow meter (ABB Hygienic Master 300). The system is located in the box keel. The water inflow is in about 11 m depending on the ships draft. Several devices of type SBE21 and SBE38 exist. They are used in rotation and are calibrated regularly. Find below the devices which are currently installed.

Data archiving on land

Shortly after the cruise the uncorrected thermosalinograph measurement data are available at the DShip onshore system https://dship.awi.de/. As soon as a post-cruise calibration was performed, the data are processed and uploaded in [PANGAEA|http://www.pangaea.de/search?l&q=polarstern+thermosalinograph].
