The Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC) is a collaborative, international project to address pressing science questions in the central Arctic. The project’s success, and its ultimate impact on science and society, relies upon a high level of coordination and sharing across a diverse consortium of participants. A clear data protocol and policy is essential to achieve MOSAiC science objectives, to facilitate collaboration, and to enable wide use and impact of the MOSAiC data legacy.
Objective:
The purpose of this document is to clarify and regulate the goals and principles of MOSAiC data production, management, and usage. As a responsibility of participation in MOSAiC, all members of the MOSAiC consortium must agree to and abide by this policy. This ensures that common procedures for data gathering, archiving, metadata and quality management can be implemented. Furthermore, a governance structure is defined and agreed upon that supports the MOSAiC data management in all aspects to contribute to a successful and resource effective research project and in support of data usage and publications.
