Attention:
Please note that the system can only be operated upon request. Operations of the Salinometer requires experienced scientific staff on board. The system is not operated by the ship's crew. Announce operations with the Salinometer to AWI-Logistics prior to the cruise and clarify the data transfer after the cruise.

Components
The Salinometer contains two controlled water baths (pre-bath 0.5l and main bath 13l) each equipped with Peltier module, stirrer, heat adapter and temperature sensor (SBE3 plus). Peltier element and stirrer are mechanically matched and located at one side of the bath. The main bath additionally contains the conductivity cell (modified SBE4). The system is connected via intake, tubing, filling pump and probe outlet. The Salinometer is equipped with hard disk for data storage, all software included, USB and Ethernet Network connections and a touch screen as user interface, optional an USB keyboard or mouse can be connected. The conductivity cell can and should be calibrated ('standardized', i.e. performing a one point calibration) prior to a measurement using IAPSO Standard Seawater. The SBE3 plus can be returned to manufacturer Sea-Bird Electronics for recalibration.
