The expedition leader will be invited by the scientific coordination of AWI. You will receive the invitation mail. If you have never been a participant in EIS before, you will get a registration link for the self-service-process to create your account in EIS.

When you are invited as the expedition leader, your next step is to invite

a) yourself as a participant

b) your workinggroup leaders of the projects of your expedition

c) potentially add administrative substitute(s) to your expedition leadership to support you in organizing the expedition.

Please be aware: as the expedition leader you are responsible for your staff, even if you delegate parts of this responsibility to your working group leaders. That implies: you will be informed, when participant data in EIS is still missing!

HowTo: add myself as a expedition participant (a)

While invited as the expedition leader / chief scientist you are not automatically invited as a participant - but you must be a participant. So please add yourself as a participant to your expedition.
Go to Projects / Member detail and there,

click the button "add participant" on the right - a dialog window will open:

Enter your (business) email-address - you do not need to send yourself the invitation by email (checkbox under your mailadress), as you have already accepted your invitation as the expedition leader.
When done and you refreshed you session, a new menubar item "my participation information" should appear - please enter all the necessary information there!

HowTo: add a working group

Adding the project to your expedition has been done by the scientific coordination of AWI. These entries can be found below the expedition leader information.

In this example, two working groups have been installed, Test and ABC. You see the maximum amount of working group participants available. If you want to install a further working group, press the button "Add working group to project".

Please follow the steps shown and explained to add a further working group to your expedition.


HowTo: add a working group leader on board

During any kind of expedition, there will be a variety of working groups on board. You need to add working group leaders to these groups. Working group leaders will organize there groups themselves, such as inviting members for there group and care for them to submit all relevant participants' information.

Adding (and inviting) a working group leader remains your job -  or the one of your administrative substitute.


HowTo: administrative substitute (c)

It might be necessary, that dedicated persons need to access the same areas in your expedition in EIS that you are able to. Therefore, a function of administrative substitute is available for your position as the expedition leader.

Please click on the button "administrative substitute" in the chief-scientist-area.

A dialog appears where you can add administrative substitute(s) by clicking the button "add substitute".

Note: all entries or changes done by and administrative substitute are still under your responsibility.


HowTo: statistics

In your "chief scientific" area, you can use the button "export data" to get a .csv-formated list about all your expedition participants' data.
