Two models of Nevzorov Probes exist (CWCMB2 and CWCMU4) which operate after the same principle. Each system consists of a control box and a sensor head. Operation of the Nevzorov probes requires experienced staff on board the aircraft. The differential pressure transducer setra 239 with a pressure range of 0-30 INWC (inch water column) is permantly installed in both aircraft as part of the Basic Meteorology module. Additionally, the pressure transducer setra 239 with a pressure range of +/- 7.5 INWC is installed in nose booms used for turbulence measurements. |

The Sonde consits of two seperate sensors Sky Tech Nevzorov-probe is an aircraft probe designed for measurements of LWC ( liquid water content) and TWC ( total (ice plus liquid plus ice) water content (LWC and TWC) in of clouds and fog fogs in the range of 0.003 g/m3 to 3 g/m3. The Nevzorov-probe belongs to the group of so-called "hot wire constant temperature probes". A sensor unit consists of two sensors: collector and reference. The principle of operation is based on separate measurements of power needed to compensate heat losses caused by evaporation of cloud water and convective losses on the collector sensor and power needed to compensate convective heat losses on a reference sensor. Liquid and total water content are measured by separate LWC and TWC sensors, mounted on the same sensor vane. |
