contenttypeSummary

Magnetic measurements can reveal the strength and direction of the geomagnetic field. One or two Cesium magnetometers are mounted in a combination of nose and/or tail booms. In addition, a Fluxgate Magnetometer for attitude compensation is installed. The sensor system and real-time compensation are controlled by an external unit (AADC II) mounted in a rack. Magnetic base stations with Overhauser magnetometers Overhauser magnetometer are used for ground reference of the airborne measurements.

aircraft:bt-67:magnetics (6815)

They produce readings with a 0.01 nT to 0.02 nT standard deviation while sampling once per second.

Info
CS-3 Cesium Magnetometers are mounted in a tail and a nose boom respectively. Additionally, a fluxgate magnetometer is mounted close to the aileron. Electronics are stored in a rack.
The GSM-19 magnetometers are used as base stations continously running on the ground during airborne magnetic measurements.

Metadata (Metadata Plugin)
0Rawdata
During flight magnetometer data are stored within the aircraft onboard DMS system. Magnetic base stations record data independantly and continously.

Data archiving on land

Metadata (Metadata Plugin)
0DataOnLand
After the flight CS-3 and Fluxgate magnetometer data are accessible via the land system of the aircraft data managment system (DMS). Base station data of the GEM Overhauser magnetometers are downloaded frequently and are made accessible via the external devices file system of the aircraft data managment system (DMS).
