Projektordner können von jedem AWI-Nutzer beantragt werden und stellen die bevorzugte Speichermethode für alle Nutzenden dar. Ein Projekt kann unter der Weboberfläche
beantragt werden (Home → Projects → Create). Der Besitzer und die Administratoren eines Projektes können anderen Personen (unabhängig von Abteilungen) Zugriff auf das Projekt gewähren (diese werden dann per Mail darüber informiert, müssen sich jedoch neu anmelden/einloggen).
Bei der Erstellung von Projekten, muss eine Kostenstelle und ein Ablaufdatum angegeben werden. Die Kostenstelle wird nicht belastet, sondern dient der Ressourcenplanung im Rechenzentrum. Rechtzeitig vor dem Erreichen des Ablaufdatums bekommen der Besitzer und die Administratoren eine E-Mail und haben die Möglichkeit das Projekt zu Verlängern. Wird das Projekt nicht verlängert wird der Zugriff auf die Daten zunächst gesperrt, bevor die Daten nach 90 Tagen (für zehn Jahre) in einen sicheren Bereich im Band-Archiv verschoben werden. (Ausnahme: Daten auf HPC Systemen werden unwiederbringlich gelöscht.)
Zur Auswahl stehen:
- Schneller online Speicher (Isilon) in Bremerhaven und Potsdam (mit oder ohne Replikation auf Tape),
- und/oder langsamerer Tape-Speicher
- und/oder schneller Speicher auf dem HPC System (albedo)

Projektordner werden nicht automatisch eingebunden, wie bspw. der personal. Der Pfad für die manuelle Einbindung wird auf der jeweiligen Projektseite angegeben und lautet z.B. für online Speicher in Bremerhaven

Project folders can be requested by any AWI user and are the preferred storage method for all users. A project can be requested via the web interface
Just navigate to “Home → Projects → Create”. The creator (and all admins) of the project can grant people project access, regardless of their department (they will then be informed of this by email and have to login again).
When creating projects, a cost center and an expiration date must be specified. The cost center is not charged, but is used for resource planning in the data center. Some time before the expiration date is reached, the owner and administrators receive an email and can extend the project. If the project is not extended, access to the data is initially blocked before the data is moved to a secure area in the tape archive after 90 days (for ten years).(Exception: Data on HPC systems will be deleted)

Project folders are not automatically added as a network drive on your computer, such as the personal. The path for manual integration of onlie space in Bremerhaven is, e.g.,
