The sound velocity probe consits of the probe, the mounting cage and the computer. The data processing software DataLog Express is installed on the computer. RS232 interface connects the computer to the probe. The sound velocity profiles can be transferred to the computer of the multibeam echo sounder Hydrosweep DS3 via the computer network.
Two Valeport MIDAS exist on RV Polarstern and are used alongside without further discrimination. |
